Does Google offer sites that use SSL certificates an increase in rank?

Google has announced it will grant a small increase in rank to each site using the 2048-bit SSL encryption service. This gives sites a small advantage in the rankings, specifying that they change the rank in a very small percentage. Of course, these SSL certificates do not have a significant impact, such as the quality content of a site.

As a result of tests, Google says the impact is just 1% of total global searches, but in the future it wants to encourage all site owners to use the SSL certificate to give all users a secure web experience.

Google has also shown that based on tests conducted in recent months, sites using SSL certificates have seen positive results in relevance and ranking in Google search results.

In the past, one of Google's engineers, Matt Cutts, said he would like to make the SSL certificate a rank factor in the Google algorithm. Well, less than five months after that announcement, this idea has come true.

Should you worry about switching from HTTP to HTTPS in terms of optimizing websites in search engines? (Or SEO), Google has been promoting this passage for years, but you have to take the appropriate steps to make sure that traffic is not going to suffer.

The first step you can take is to tell the Google search engine that you've made a change from HTTP to HTTPS.

Perhaps in the future, Google will provide more information to users, but it has provided the following tips for the time being:
- Decide on the type of certificate you need: a single, multi-domain or wildcard certificate
- Use 2048-bit security certificates
- Use relative URLs for resources that are on the same secure domain
- Use relative protocol URLs for all other domains
- Do not block the HTTPS site from crawling using robots.txt
- allows pages to be indexed by search engines where possible. Avoid the meta tag of the noindex robots.

Also, or updated Google Webmaster Tools to better manage and report HTTPS sites.

To pass your site on the HTTPS protocol, just buy an SSL certificate and then htaccess will redirect the links to HTTPS.
From Net Solution, you can purchase various types of SSL certificates from Comodo, installing and forwarding to HTTPS being free.
